The StudioIt is SO exciting that for 18 weeks we get to dig into some serious art making together! This is YOUR studio and with great freedom comes great responsibility. This space is tight sometimes and is shared with 3 other classes, one of them being ceramics! So that means how we work together to set up some routines and organize the studio is a very important aspect of creating a productive, safe, and positive environment.
Not only does the Studio environment benefit from some agreed upon routines for the physical space, it also involves some agreements regarding how we share the space as considerate, kind humans. Let's review The Four Agreements and think about how we can build off of these concepts to create a positive place for us to share our ideas, our art, and our time with each other. |
" To have a sacred place is an absolute necessity for anybody today. You must have a room or a certain hour of the day or so, where you do not know who your friends are, you don't know what you owe anybody or what they owe you. This is a place where you can simply experience and bring forth what you are and what you might be." - Joseph Campbell

Now let's ponder some questions straight from the National Core Arts Standards . . .
Enduring Understanding: Artists and designers balance experimentation and safety, freedom and responsibility while developing and creating artworks.
Essential Question(s):
- How do artists and designers care for and maintain materials, tools, and equipment?
- Why is it important for safety and health to understand and follow correct procedures in handling materials, tools, and equipment?
- What responsibilities come with the freedom to create?
